The Mapping program

Health outcomes are shaped by place.

Where you live determines your access to hospitals, clean water, nutritious food, safe spaces to exercise, and emergency services. Yet millions of people live in communities that remain unmapped—making it nearly impossible for health organizations to reach them during crises or plan equitable resource distribution.

CareForAll’s mapping program addresses this gap.

Through Humanitarian OpenStreetMap, members contribute to building detailed maps of underserved communities worldwide. These maps become critical infrastructure for:

Emergency response

Enabling faster aid delivery during disease outbreaks, natural disasters, and humanitarian crises

Healthcare planning

Helping organizations identify where to build clinics, distribute vaccines, or deploy mobile health services

Equity analysis

Revealing which communities lack access to health-supporting infrastructure like clean water sources, sanitation facilities, or transportation routes to medical care

Mapping is a flexible way for members to contribute to global public health equity outside of student-led projects.

  • It requires no prior experience
  • Can be done in short bursts
  • Creates lasting impact

Every road, building, or water source mapped becomes data that health workers and crisis responders rely on.

Our program supports vulnerable communities

across all seven global regions:

North America

Latin America &

The Caribbean

Sub-Saharan

Africa

Middle East &

North Africa

South Asia

East Asia &

Pacific

Europe &
Central Asia

This mapping work advances our core mission—harnessing youth-led action to build healthier communities globally.
